The SPT range of Wire Catchers were developed as a result of an increasing need from the vehicle seat manufacturing sector for an efficient, fast and cost-effective solution for holding wire and tubular style assemblies. Able to cope with a range of diameters from 3.0mm up to 12.0mm, the SPT Wire Catchers provide fast and positive component holding. The work piece is simply clicked manually by hand into position, where it is locked until receiving a compressed air input. An optional integral sensor is able to signal that the Wire Catcher has activated correctly for integration within Programmable Logic Control.
Despite their intended design purpose, we can supply Wire Catchers with all manner of modified latches for use in all sorts of diverse applications. Detailed below is a typical application for an SPT Wire Catcher.
The image immediately to the left shows a typical wire catcher application. A car seat frame (highlighted red) has been located using the wire catch system. As an integral part of a bespoke fixture solution, the Wire Catcher was able to positively and accurately locate the car frame to facilitate CNC robotic welding. The integral sensor was able to positively signal correct activation of the unit, and the unique compressed air release mechanism ensured quick and easy removal of the finished part.
Able to cope with a range of sizes ranging from 3.0mm diameter wire, up to 12.0mm, the wire catcher unit is easy to mount and compact in size. By offering specialised modifications to the latch mechanism, we have successfully configured them to perform in a wide variety of applications and not just for wire diameters.
Shown above, is a special purpose application that incorporated the SPT Wire Catch system. The units were engineered to facilitate the correct positioning of vehicle head light lens. They held the components positively in the correct orientation during an adhesive assembly process.
